Strategic Study of CAE 2022, Volume 24, Issue 5,   Pages 19-25 doi: 10.15302/J-SSCAE-2022.05.003

Abstract:

The safety of drinking water is related to the national economy and the people's livelihood. The Chinese government has always attached great importance to the safety guarantee of drinking water. Since the reform and opening up, in the Yangtze River Delta area with active economic development and high population density, water environmental pollution has brought great challenges to the safety of drinking water. After more than ten years of development, the overall level of drinking water safety assurance in the Yangtze River Delta region has been significantly improved, which has effectively promoted the coordinated and sustainable development of the region. However, the people's requirements for water quality safety and health are also gradually improving, and the drinking water safety assurance work of the Yangtze River Delta Megalopolis is still facing many challenges. This article takes the typical source water quality in the Yangtze Delta region as a starting point for further analysis, and summarized the achievement of urban drinking water safety assurance of this area. The current situation of further improving drinking water quality was analyzed from the two dimensions of management and technology, as well as the three aspects of water source, water plant and pipe network (secondary water supply). On this basis, several suggestion and strategies has been proposed, which includes improving the ecological compensation mechanism, collaboratively revising the water environment quality standards, developing green and efficient water treatment technologies, and innovating the water supply management model. These strategies can give reference for the safety of drinking water in the Yangtze Delta and the development of regional integration.
